I served as the Construction Manager and Resident Engineer during the construction of a dairy waste management system (an Arlo System) near Eau Claire, Wisconsin on the Mark Kaeding dairy farm. Controlling the odor of stored dairy cow waste, and the labor and time commitment for its eventual disposal, are a challenge for dairy owners. The manure pit often needs to be cleaned out once or twice per week. An Arlo System separates the solids and liquids into two large pits which minimizes order. The clean-out schedule for the larger pits can be extended to 2 or 3 times per year. The separated waste products are a higher quality fertilizer. Humphrey Engineering is no longer in business but this job helped me get through a rough spot in life. I am grateful.
